Travel agency software costs from about $20 to $50 a month per advisor for the CRM and itinerary tools aimed at independent advisors, and from $99 to $400 or more per user a month for the operator platforms that price trips from supplier contracts. For a three-person agency on published annual rates, the yearly bill runs from roughly $900 on Tern to $6,563 in year one on Tourwriter Pro. Every figure below was read off each vendor's own pricing page from a US connection in October 2026, and the totals are arithmetic on those published rates, not quotes.
That spread is the real answer to "what is the average cost of travel agency software". There is no average, because the category holds two different products. Below are the six platforms US agencies compare most, the yearly bill at one, three and five people, the fees that sit outside the headline price, and how to choose.
Travel agency software cost at a glance
| Platform | Published entry price | Built for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TravelJoy | Starter $19 a month, Pro $39 or $32 billed yearly | Independent leisure advisors | Starter stops at 12 trips a year, card fees of 5 percent plus 30 cents on Starter |
| Travefy | Core $39 a month, Premium $59, both billed annually | Advisors and small agencies | Extra advisors are $20 a month on Core, $39 on Premium |
| AXUS Travel App | $35 per seat monthly, $329 a seat yearly | Advisors who want a per seat price | A 50 percent cancellation penalty on annual terms |
| Tern | $49 a month solo, $420 a year, agency seats from $22 to $25 a month | Advisors and host agencies | The agency seat price only applies when the agency pays; 0.6 percent on top of Stripe fees |
| Tourwriter | Starter from $99 per user a month, Pro from $149, billed annually | Tour operators and DMCs | Setup from $1,199, itinerary caps of 25 and 50 a year |
| Safari Portal | Essentials $299 a month for 1 user, Pro $399 for 3 users | Tour operators with supplier rates | $50 a month per extra user, a $199 supported rate for newer businesses |
The top four are advisor tools: a CRM, an itinerary and proposal builder, and client payments in one subscription. The bottom two are operator platforms, where you load supplier contracts and the software builds costed proposals. Pricing an advisor tool against an operator platform is the most common mistake in this search, so decide which you are before you compare numbers.
What does travel agency software cost for 1, 3 and 5 people?
Yearly cost on published annual rates, before payment fees, tax and add-ons. For Tourwriter and Safari Portal the first year includes setup or the annual discount as noted.
| Platform and plan | 1 person | 3 people | 5 people |
|---|---|---|---|
| TravelJoy Pro, billed yearly | $384 | Add-on seats priced separately | Add-on seats priced separately |
| Travefy Core | $468 | $948 | $1,428 |
| Travefy Premium | $708 | $1,644 | $2,580 |
| AXUS Travel App, yearly | $329 | $987 | $1,645 |
| Tern, solo or agency annual seats | $420 | $900 | $1,500 |
| Tourwriter Starter, year one with setup | $2,387 | $4,763 | $7,139 |
| Safari Portal, annual, one month free | $3,289 | $4,389 | $5,489 |
Two patterns show up. Among the advisor tools the cost per person is close to flat, and the real gap is $329 to $468 a year per seat before add-ons. Among the operator platforms the cost falls per person as the team grows on Safari Portal, because Pro bundles three users, and rises in a straight line on Tourwriter, which charges every seat separately.
What does each platform include for the money?
TravelJoy
TravelJoy publishes three plans. Starter is $19 a month and is capped at 12 trips a year. Pro is $39 a month, or $32 billed annually, with unlimited trips, automations and group bookings. Premium is $79 billed annually or $99 month to month, and bundles SMS, Zapier, email campaigns and extra AI usage. Card payments from clients cost 5 percent plus 30 cents on Starter and 3.5 percent plus 30 cents on Pro, so the plan you pick changes what each client deposit costs you. The full breakdown is on our TravelJoy pricing page.
Travefy
Travefy Core is $39 a month billed annually and bundles the itinerary and proposal builder, a CRM, invoicing and commission tracking, a website builder and the mobile apps. Premium is $59 and adds priority support, onboarding and a custom domain. Agencies pay $20 a month for each additional advisor on Core. See Travefy pricing for every tier.
AXUS Travel App
AXUS prices the seat: $35 a month, or $329 a year. The line to read in the terms is the cancellation clause on annual plans, which charges 50 percent. Our AXUS Travel App pricing page covers it.
Tern
A solo advisor pays $49 a month or $420 a year. An agency buying 3 to 24 seats pays $25 a seat a month on annual billing, falling to $22 at 100 to 499 seats. Since July 1, 2026 every plan carries a monthly AI allowance, and Tern Pro raises it for $19 to $149 a month. Details on Tern pricing.
Tourwriter
Tourwriter charges from $99 per user a month on Starter and from $149 on Pro, billed annually, plus a one time setup from $1,199. Starter allows 25 itineraries a year and Pro allows 50. On a full Starter year that is about $47.52 per itinerary after setup. There is no self-serve trial, only demos and quotes. See Tourwriter pricing.
Safari Portal
Essentials is $299 a month for one user and Pro is $399 for three users, plus $50 a month per extra user, with one month free on annual billing. Advisors with a host agency, or businesses in their first years, can apply for a $199 a month supported rate. There is a 14 day trial. See Safari Portal pricing, and itinerary builder software for tour operators for the head to head.
What costs extra on top of the subscription?
The subscription is rarely the whole bill. Four items move the total.
- Payment processing. Collecting a deposit through the platform costs 3.5 to 5 percent plus 30 cents on TravelJoy and Stripe's rate plus 0.6 percent on Tern. An agency taking $200,000 a year in client payments feels a one point difference as $2,000, far more than a seat price.
- Setup and migration. Tourwriter starts at $1,199. The advisor tools mostly have free self-serve onboarding.
- Caps. TravelJoy Starter ends at 12 trips and Tourwriter's plans end at 25 and 50 itineraries. Hit a cap and you are on the next plan whatever your headcount.
- AI and add-on usage. Tern and TravelJoy both sell additional AI or automation capacity above the base plan.
What is the cheapest travel agent software?
On published rates, AXUS at $329 a seat a year and TravelJoy Pro at $384 a year are the cheapest full-time options for a single advisor. Tern at $25 a seat is the cheapest per seat for an agency of three or more that pays for the seats. Cheapest is the wrong test if you book more than a dozen trips a year with card payments, because processing fees outrun seat price quickly.
How to choose travel agency software
Pick the category first. If you sell packages and plan fees to leisure clients, a CRM with a proposal builder is enough, and the question is between TravelJoy, Travefy, AXUS and Tern. If you build trips from supplier contracts and net rates, you need Tourwriter or Safari Portal. Then count people, trips a year and client payments, and price the fees as well as the seats.
For an agency of one to five advisors, a rule that holds: start on the advisor tool with the lowest cap you will not hit, avoid annual terms with a cancellation penalty until you have used the trial, and keep card fees under 3.5 percent. A bookkeeper or accounts receivable process that chases unpaid client invoices also pays for itself faster than most seat discounts once you invoice balances on group trips.
The step none of these tools write for you
All six platforms store, send and bill a trip. None of them drafts the day by day plan from a client's brief. That first draft is the hours an advisor spends before the CRM matters. TripAgent.ai writes it: you describe the trip, and it returns a day by day itinerary with times, places and a cost on every line, from $49 a month, which you then finish and load into whichever platform you use. It is not a CRM and does not replace one. See our page on travel agency software with AI itinerary drafting, or compare the cost per itinerary on itinerary builder for travel agents.
