How do I make a travel itinerary?

What should a travel itinerary include?

A usable itinerary is more than a wish list with dates on it. At minimum each day needs a rough time for each activity, the travel time between stops, and where you are sleeping that night. The things people leave out and then regret are transfer times, opening hours, and a gap on the first day for the fact that you will land tired.

Is a template or a spreadsheet good enough?

For a simple trip, yes. A travel itinerary template in Google Sheets or a printed planner is a perfectly good place to hold a plan you have already worked out, and if you enjoy the research, nothing beats a document you built yourself.
