Tern pricing and Tern travel pricing per seat, agency tiers, Tern Pro and every fee
Tern is the all-in-one platform a lot of US travel advisors and host agencies are moving to, and its pricing is more generous than the headline suggests, but only if you buy it the right way. The $49 number on the pricing page is the solo monthly rate, the most expensive way to pay for Tern. The same seat bought by an agency of three or more on annual billing is $25, and the agency tiers keep falling from there. This page lays out every published Tern price, what each tier includes, the AI usage limits that took effect on July 1, 2026, and the arithmetic against Travefy, TravelJoy and AXUS so you can pick the plan before the trial runs out.
Day-by-day itinerary · a cost on every line · rebuilds any day on request
The short answer
Tern costs a solo travel advisor $49 a month, or $420 a year ($35 a month) on annual billing; a solo account has no quarterly option. When an agency buys the seats, the price drops by tier: 3 to 24 seats are $33 a seat a month on monthly billing, $28 quarterly and $25 annually; 25 to 99 seats are $31, $27 and $23; 100 to 499 seats are $29, $25 and $22; 500 or more is a custom quote. Tern Pro, an optional add-on for more AI usage, is $19, $39, $99 or $149 a month, billed monthly only. Tern adds 0.6 percent on top of Stripe's fees when clients pay a planning fee through Tern, and every new account starts with a 14 day free trial. TripAgent.ai is not a CRM and does not compete with Tern: it is a $49 a month AI trip planner that writes and prices the day-by-day itinerary an advisor then presents in Tern or any other builder.

Why it works
Three things that decide what Tern actually costs you
Who pays for the seat changes the price
A solo advisor pays $49 a month or $420 a year. An agency buying three or more seats pays $25 a seat a month on annual billing. Tern's help center puts the agency discount at up to 50 percent off each seat.
AI usage now has a ceiling
Since July 1, 2026 every plan includes a monthly AI allowance shared by AI Chat, Smart Inbox, AI Assist, the Notetaker and AI Reconciliation. Tern Pro raises it for $19, $39, $99 or $149 a month.
Client payments carry a Tern fee
Planning fees collected through Tern go through Stripe, and Tern adds 0.6 percent on top of Stripe's charges. On a standard US card that is 2.9 percent plus 30 cents, plus 0.4 percent for Stripe invoicing.
What it handles

How much does Tern cost?
Tern costs $49 a month for a solo advisor, or $420 a year on annual billing, which works out to $35 a month. Agencies that buy seats for their advisors pay less per seat: $25 a month on annual billing for 3 to 24 seats, falling to $22 at 100 to 499 seats. Every plan starts with a 14 day free trial.
Two things make the Tern price look higher than it is. The first is that the pricing page opens on the solo monthly rate, which is the dearest way to buy Tern. The second is that the agency discount only applies when the agency pays. Tern's help center is explicit that an advisor who is not on an agency-purchased seat pays full price for their own subscription.
| Who is buying | Monthly billing | Quarterly billing | Annual billing | Cost for a year, cheapest term |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo advisor, 1 to 2 seats | $49 a month | Not offered | $35 a month | $420 |
| Agency, 3 to 24 seats | $33 a seat | $28 a seat | $25 a seat | $300 a seat |
| Agency, 25 to 99 seats | $31 a seat | $27 a seat | $23 a seat | $276 a seat |
| Agency, 100 to 499 seats | $29 a seat | $25 a seat | $22 a seat | $264 a seat |
| Agency, 500 seats or more | Custom | Custom | Custom | Quoted |
One inconsistency is worth knowing before you buy. The pricing page calculator treats one or two seats as the solo plan, at $49 monthly or $35 annually. An older help center article on agency pricing lists a separate one to two seat agency rate of $39 monthly, $35 quarterly and $32 annually. If you are a two advisor shop, open Settings, then Team, then Purchase Seats inside Tern during the trial and read the live number there before you pick a billing term.
What is included in every Tern plan?
Every Tern plan includes the itinerary and proposal builder, a full CRM, AI tools with a monthly usage allowance, email integration, scheduling and booking links, credit card authorization, client forms and intake, and reports and analytics. There is no feature-gated cheap tier the way TravelJoy caps Starter at twelve trips a year.
Agency plans of three or more seats add the back office: commission reconciliation, supplier payment management, agency-wide reporting, team collaboration tools, a shared content library and centralized billing, where the agency pays one bill for every seat. Tern positions that bundle as a replacement for a CRM such as TravelJoy, Dubsado or HoneyBook, a scheduler such as Calendly, an itinerary builder such as Travefy or AXUS, and a back office such as ClientBase, TRAMS or TESS.
That positioning is the right lens for the price. Tern at $25 a seat is expensive next to a single $20 itinerary seat and cheap next to four separate tools, so the honest comparison is against whatever stack you would otherwise pay for.
What is Tern Pro and how much does it cost?
Tern Pro is an optional add-on that raises your monthly AI usage, increases Notetaker hours and unlocks custom reporting. It costs $19 a month for Tern Pro, $39 for Tern Pro 2x, $99 for Tern Pro 5x and $149 for Tern Pro 10x. It is billed monthly only, even if your base subscription is annual.
The reason Tern Pro exists is the AI usage limit Tern began enforcing on July 1, 2026. AI Chat, email triage in Smart Inbox, automation-triggered agents, AI Assist imports and drafting, the Chrome extension import, the AI Notetaker and AI Reconciliation of commission statements all draw from one shared monthly allowance. Tern emails at 75, 90 and 100 percent of the allowance. At 100 percent the AI features pause until the next cycle, while existing AI content stays readable and voice transcription in notes keeps working. Tern states it charges no overage fees.
| Tern Pro tier | Price | AI usage | Solo annual plus add-on, per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| No add-on | $0 | Base allowance | $420 |
| Tern Pro | $19 a month | Substantially more than base | $648 |
| Tern Pro 2x | $39 a month | Twice Tern Pro | $888 |
| Tern Pro 5x | $99 a month | Five times Tern Pro | $1,608 |
| Tern Pro 10x | $149 a month | Ten times Tern Pro | $2,208 |
Two billing details matter for agencies. An advisor on an agency-paid seat who wants more AI usage adds Tern Pro personally, and it is billed to that advisor's own account, separate from the agency's seat charges. And the base allowance resets on the billing date for an individual subscription, but on the first of the month for an agency-paid seat. A heavy Notetaker user on the base plan is the advisor most likely to hit the ceiling, so check the usage breakdown in Subscription Settings during the trial.
What does Tern charge to collect client payments?
Tern charges a 0.6 percent processing fee on top of what Stripe charges when a client pays a professional service fee, such as a trip planning fee, through Tern. Tern's own worked example for a domestic card is Stripe's standard 2.9 percent plus 30 cents, Tern's 0.6 percent, and Stripe's 0.4 percent invoicing fee, or 0.5 percent on Stripe Invoice Pro.
That adds up to roughly 3.9 percent plus 30 cents per card payment. Tern's help center also limits the feature to planning services, not payments meant for suppliers, and allows one Stripe account per Tern account.
| Planning fee paid by card | Stripe 2.9% + 30c | Stripe invoicing 0.4% | Tern 0.6% | Total fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $250 | $7.55 | $1.00 | $1.50 | $10.05 |
| $500 | $14.80 | $2.00 | $3.00 | $19.80 |
| $1,000 | $29.30 | $4.00 | $6.00 | $39.30 |
| $10,000 a year in fees, 20 payments | $296.00 | $40.00 | $60.00 | $396.00 |
For comparison, TravelJoy Pro charges 3.5 percent plus 30 cents on a client card payment, so on the same $1,000 planning fee TravelJoy takes $35.30 against about $39.30 through Tern. At $10,000 a year of planning fees the gap is around $40, which is small next to the subscription difference but worth putting in the spreadsheet. The full TravelJoy fee schedule is on our TravelJoy pricing page.
Tern vs Travefy, TravelJoy and AXUS on price
The four platforms US advisors shortlist are priced on four different logics. Tern discounts the seat once an agency pays. Travefy prices the account and charges $20 for each additional Core seat. TravelJoy prices the plan and keeps its seat price inside the app. AXUS charges the same for every seat.
| Annual billing | One advisor | Three advisors | Six advisors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tern | $420 solo | $900 as an agency, 3 x $300 | $1,800 as an agency, 6 x $300 |
| Travefy Core | $468 | $948 with two $20 seats | $1,668 with five $20 seats |
| TravelJoy | $384 on Pro | $948 on Premium, first year | Seat price shown only in the app |
| AXUS Travel App | $329 | $987 | $1,974 |
Tern is the cheapest option at three advisors, where its agency seat undercuts Travefy by $48 and TravelJoy Premium by the same amount. The head to head against the lighter of the two is in Tern vs TravelJoy pricing. From four advisors Travefy Core pulls ahead, because a $20 seat beats a $25 seat on every hire after the first: at six advisors Tern is $132 a year dearer, and the gap grows by $60 a year for each advisor you add. Tern closes some of that at 25 seats, where its annual rate falls to $23. Solo, AXUS yearly is the cheapest full plan and Tern annual sits between TravelJoy Pro and Travefy Core.
Price is not the whole decision, because Tern's agency plan carries commission reconciliation and a back office that Travefy Core and AXUS do not replace. We work through the head to head in Tern vs Travefy pricing, and price the whole category, including host agency portals, in travel agent software.
Is Tern worth it?
For an agency of three to twenty-four advisors that would otherwise run a separate CRM, itinerary builder, scheduler and back office, Tern on annual billing at $300 a seat a year is strong value, and centralized billing means advisors stop expensing their own tools. For a solo advisor the case is narrower: $420 a year is more than TravelJoy Pro or AXUS, so it is worth it when you would use the scheduling, forms, card authorization and reporting that come in the same subscription rather than buying them elsewhere.
Tern is a weaker fit if your host agency already bundles a booking portal, CRM and itinerary builder into its membership, or if you are a Notetaker-heavy advisor who will need Tern Pro every month, which lifts the solo annual cost to $648 or more. Pay monthly for the first cycle after the trial if you are still comparing; the solo annual saving is $168 a year, and the plan can be changed later with prorated billing.
The work a Tern subscription does not price
Tern is where the client record, the proposal, the payments and the commissions live, and Tern AI helps import and tidy what you already have. What no Tern tier does is decide what nine days in Portugal for a family of four on an $8,000 budget should look like, day by day, before you build the proposal. That drafting is still the slowest hour in most advisors' week.
TripAgent.ai covers that step. You describe the client and the trip, meaning destination, length, party, budget and style, and it writes a day-by-day itinerary with morning, afternoon and evening blocks, an estimated cost on activities, food and local transport, travel times between stops and a running total against the budget. You rewrite any day on request, export the plan and rebuild the parts you keep inside Tern. TripAgent.ai does not book anything and is not a CRM, so it sits beside Tern rather than replacing any part of it. Plans start at $49 a month, with a one-time demo so you can test it on a real client brief first.
The longer version of where drafting fits beside an advisor CRM is in AI for travel agents.
