Safari Portal is the design-led itinerary and back office platform that a lot of US tour operators, DMCs and luxury advisors shortlist, and it is also the most expensive published plan in the itinerary builder category. Most of the prices you will find on review sites are an older three-tier list of $199, $299 and $399. The current pricing page reads differently: two published tiers, a per user charge, a discounted entry rate you have to qualify for, and a set of services priced separately. Here is every number, what it buys, and how it compares with the platforms on the same shortlist.

Day-by-day itinerary · a cost on every line · rebuilds any day on request

The short answer

Safari Portal costs $299 a month plus taxes on Essentials, which includes one user, and $399 a month on Pro, which includes three users. Each additional user is $50 a month on either plan, and Enterprise is quoted. Annual billing gives one month free, so Essentials is $3,289 a year and Pro $4,389. Advisors with a host agency and businesses in their first years may qualify for a supported rate of $199 a month. Every plan starts with a 14 day trial that does not ask for a card. The detail most buyers miss: from three users up, Pro costs exactly the same as Essentials, so Essentials only makes sense for a team of one or two.

Why it works

Three things that decide what Safari Portal actually costs you

Headcount picks the plan for you

Essentials includes one user and Pro includes three, and both add $50 a month per extra user. At three users Essentials costs $399 a month, which is the price of Pro, so a team of three or more should be on Pro.

The $199 rate is a qualification, not a tier

Safari Portal publishes a supported rate of $199 a month for advisors working with a host agency and for businesses in their first years. You apply for it; it is not a plan you pick at checkout.

Money taken through the platform carries a fee

Invoicing and financials come on every plan, but a Safari Portal platform fee applies on top of processing when clients pay through it. Safari Portal says it shows the fees before you start taking payments.

What it handles

How much does Safari Portal cost?

Safari Portal costs $299 a month plus applicable taxes for the Essentials plan, which includes one user, and $399 a month for Pro, which includes three users. Additional users are $50 a month each. Enterprise pricing is custom. Paying annually gives you one month free, and every plan has a 14 day trial with no credit card required.

That makes Safari Portal the priciest published plan an advisor is likely to compare. It is priced that way because it is sold as the whole operating system for a travel business rather than an itinerary formatter: the entry tier already carries the CRM, pipeline, forms, e-signatures, card authorizations, invoicing and financials, plus a content library you can reuse across trips. Whether that is good value depends almost entirely on how much of that stack you would otherwise pay for separately.

Plan Users included Monthly billing Annual billing, one month free Extra user
Essentials 1 $299 a month, $3,588 a year $3,289 a year $50 a month
Pro 3 $399 a month, $4,788 a year $4,389 a year $50 a month
Enterprise Custom Quoted Quoted Quoted
Supported rate, if you qualify 1 $199 a month, $2,388 a year Ask at sign-up Not published

All prices are stated before tax. The annual figures assume the one free month is taken off the monthly list price, which is how Safari Portal describes the discount; the exact annual invoice is shown at checkout.

Safari Portal cost per user for teams of one to ten

Safari Portal pricing is primarily user-based, which is how Safari Portal itself describes it, so the useful number for an agency is the cost per person. Because Essentials includes one user and Pro includes three at a $100 difference, and both plans add users at $50, the two plans cost exactly the same from the third user up. The table uses monthly list prices.

Team size Essentials per month Pro per month Cheaper plan Cost per user per month
1 user $299 $399 Essentials $299
2 users $349 $399 Essentials $175
3 users $399 $399 Same price, take Pro $133
5 users $499 $499 Same price, take Pro $100
10 users $749 $749 Same price, take Pro $75

The practical reading is simple. A solo advisor or a two person shop pays less on Essentials and gives up the client dashboards, live flight updates and integrations. Anyone with three or more people should be on Pro, because at that headcount the dashboards, flight updates, Zapier and API access cost nothing extra. At ten users Safari Portal is $75 a person a month, which is closer to the rest of the category than the solo price suggests. Larger teams can ask for Enterprise pricing, which Safari Portal quotes on size, requirements and implementation needs.

Who qualifies for the Safari Portal $199 supported rate?

Safari Portal says travel advisors working with a host agency and businesses in their first years may qualify for a supported rate of $199 a month. It is offered through a "see if you qualify" step on the pricing page rather than as a plan you choose, and the pricing page does not say which features or how many users the rate includes, so confirm that before you commit.

At $199 a month, or $2,388 a year, a host agency advisor gets the Safari Portal design and back office for about $100 a month less than the list price of Essentials. That is still roughly five times what the lighter advisor tools charge, so the rate matters most to an advisor who has already decided they want Safari Portal and is only waiting on the price.

What Safari Portal charges beyond the subscription

Three costs sit outside the plan price. The first is client payments: when clients pay through Safari Portal's supported payment partners, payment processing fees and a Safari Portal platform fee apply, varying by payment method, provider and account setup. Safari Portal says it makes the fees clear before you begin processing, so ask for the rate card during the trial and run it against a typical deposit.

The second is implementation. Safari Portal Blueprint, its strategic implementation and operational consulting service, is scoped and priced separately on the complexity of your business. Custom onboarding and data migration from another platform are also scoped separately on what needs to move and how much support you want. Standard onboarding, the Academy, live training and the help center are included on every plan.

The third is the add-on list: custom branding, rebranding for B2B partners, your own branded custom app, language translation, extra users and a white glove Zapier setup. None carries a published price, so treat them as quoted items.

Safari Portal vs Travefy, Tern, TravelJoy, AXUS and Tourwriter on price

The itinerary platforms a US advisor shortlists split into two price bands. The advisor tools at $19 to $49 a month format and track an itinerary for an advisor who sells commissionable product. The tour operator tools at $99 to $399 a month also hold supplier rates, mark them up, cost the trip and invoice it. Safari Portal sits at the top of the second band.

Platform Entry price One user for a year Three users for a year
Safari Portal Essentials $299 a month $3,289 annual $4,389 on Pro, annual
Safari Portal supported rate $199 a month $2,388 Not published
Tourwriter From $99 a user a month, annual $2,387 in year one with setup Quoted per user
Travefy Core $39 a month, annual $468 $948 with two $20 seats
Tern $49 a month solo, $35 annual $420 $900 as an agency
AXUS Travel App $35 a seat a month $329 $987
TravelJoy Pro $32 a month, annual $384 Seat price shown only in the app

Safari Portal costs about seven times Travefy Core for a solo advisor and nearly five times Tern for a team of three. The gap buys the Lookbook design, a curated content library, Magic Import, invoicing with financials and, on Pro, client dashboards and live flight updates. If you sell a host agency's product and never hold net rates, the advisor tools cover the job; the head to head breakdowns are on our Tern pricing, TravelJoy pricing and Travefy pricing pages.

If you build your own product from DMC and supplier rates, the honest comparison is Safari Portal against Tourwriter, and the Tourwriter against Safari Portal first year cost is worked out in itinerary builder software for tour operators, and the cost per itinerary across all six platforms is worked out on our itinerary builder for travel agents page.

Is Safari Portal worth it?

Safari Portal is worth it for a tour operator, DMC or luxury advisor whose proposals are the product, who would otherwise pay for a CRM, an e-signature tool, an invoicing tool and an itinerary builder separately, and who has three or more people on Pro. At ten users it is $75 a person a month for the whole stack.

Safari Portal is harder to justify for a solo advisor booking packaged product through a host agency. At $299 a month that advisor pays $3,289 a year on annual billing for features a $39 tool partly covers. The $199 supported rate narrows the gap without closing it. The 14 day trial with no card is the right way to decide: build two real client proposals in it and see whether clients respond to the Lookbook.

The step a Safari Portal subscription leaves to you

Traveler at an airport reviewing a revised day by day plan on a laptop

Safari Portal makes a finished itinerary look excellent and keeps the client, the forms and the money in one place. Magic Import turns a supplier PDF into a day. What it does not do is decide what nine days in Tanzania or ten days in Italy should contain for this client, in what order, at what daily cost.

TripAgent.ai does that part. You describe the client and the trip, meaning destination, length, party, budget and style, and it writes a day by day itinerary with morning, afternoon and evening plans, realistic transfer times, and a price on the activities, food and local transport, from $49 a month. You then move the draft into Safari Portal, swap in the properties and suppliers you sell, and send the Lookbook. TripAgent.ai does not book anything, hold client records or take payments, so it sits in front of Safari Portal rather than replacing it. More on that workflow is on our AI for travel agents page, and the wider category is priced on travel agent software.

Good questions

Questions travel advisors and tour operators ask about Safari Portal pricing

Safari Portal costs $299 a month plus taxes for Essentials with one user and $399 a month for Pro with three users. Each additional user is $50 a month. Enterprise is quoted. Annual billing gives one month free, so Essentials is $3,289 a year and Pro $4,389, and qualifying advisors can apply for a $199 a month supported rate.
Yes. Safari Portal Essentials and Pro both come with a 14 day free trial, and Safari Portal does not ask for a credit card to start it. Enterprise starts with a 30 minute call instead. Fourteen days is enough to build two or three real client proposals and test the Lookbook and traveler app before paying.
An additional user costs $50 a month on both Essentials and Pro, which is $600 a year at the monthly rate. Essentials includes one user and Pro includes three, so from the third user onward both plans cost the same and Pro, with dashboards, live flight updates and integrations, is the better buy.
The supported rate is a $199 a month price that Safari Portal offers to travel advisors working with a host agency and to businesses in their first years. You apply through a qualification step on the pricing page. Safari Portal does not publish what the rate includes, so confirm users and features before you sign up.
Yes. Safari Portal customers who choose annual billing get one month free compared with monthly billing. On list prices that is $3,289 a year for Essentials instead of $3,588, and $4,389 a year for Pro instead of $4,788, a saving of $299 and $399 respectively before tax.
Yes. When clients pay through Safari Portal's supported payment partners, payment processing fees and a Safari Portal platform fee apply. The rates vary by payment method, provider and account setup and are not published, though Safari Portal says it shows every applicable fee before you begin processing payments.
Yes. Safari Portal lists API connectivity and MCP connections for linking it to other systems and AI tools, and both are listed on the Pro plan along with Zapier integrations. Safari Portal notes that API access and usage may vary by plan and implementation, and white glove Zapier setup is a separately priced service.
No. Travefy Core is $39 a month on annual billing, or $468 a year, against $3,289 a year for Safari Portal Essentials on annual billing. Safari Portal bundles CRM, e-signatures, invoicing and financials at that price, so the fair comparison is Safari Portal against Travefy plus the separate tools you would add to it.
